The hospital

Chengdu Third People's Hospital is a national Grade 3A general hospital and one of Sichuan's first pilot units for modern hospital management. It is the clinical medical school of Southwest Jiaotong University and an affiliated hospital of that university, and it carries core responsibility for medical care in central Chengdu. It is a national demonstration centre for chest pain and atrial fibrillation and a national heart failure centre.

Dental care

The Stomatology Department is a Chengdu municipal key discipline and clinical key specialty, with 66 comprehensive dental treatment chairs. Equipment includes dental CBCT, 3D printers, digital panoramic and intraoral X-ray units, dental microscopes, intraoral scanners, an AI-assisted digital orthodontic system, dental implant motors, piezoelectric bone surgery units and nitrous oxide sedation. It is organised into alveolar surgery, prosthodontics and implantology, orthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, paediatric dentistry and oral medicine, and in 2024 it joined four national oral medicine alliance groups.

Visiting as a foreign patient

The hospital runs a Geriatrics and International Medical Centre, established in May 2020, combining geriatric medicine, special-needs services and international medical services, and there is also an International Exchange and Cooperation Department. No dedicated English-language dental clinic or 24-hour bilingual hotline is published, so arrange interpretation and confirm arrangements by phone before you travel. The 24-hour Comprehensive Service Centre is on 028-61312288, and the Emergency Department on 028-86638387.

Practical notes

The hospital sits in central Chengdu, within easy reach of the city's hotels and metro, and the main rail and air gateways are a short taxi ride away. Because dental work is often spread over several visits, staying within the central district keeps repeat appointments simple.
