The hospital

Henan Provincial People's Hospital traces its history to a missionary hospital founded in Kaifeng in 1904, was renamed in 1950 and moved to Zhengzhou in 1955. It was among China's first batch of Grade 3A hospitals, accredited in 1993, and is now affiliated with Zhengzhou University, also carrying the name Zhengzhou University People's Hospital. It is one of Henan's principal referral centres, with a Provincial Stomatology Centre on site.

Dental care

Stomatology is a Henan provincial clinical key specialty and a national standardised residency training base, and describes itself as one of the largest general-hospital dental centres in the province. It has 103 dental chairs and ten clinical sub-specialties: microscopic endodontics, periodontology, oral medicine and general dentistry, paediatric dentistry, alveolar surgery, temporomandibular joint disorders, oral and maxillofacial surgery, implant prosthodontics, orthodontics and preventive dentistry. It also runs its own special-needs clinic, and its inpatient oral and maxillofacial ward has 41 approved beds and performs more than 2,000 operations a year.

Visiting as a foreign patient

The Henan Provincial International Medical Centre, established by higher-level approval in September 2016, describes itself as filling the gap in high-end foreign-related medical services in Henan and the wider Central Plains region. It occupies Building 7 on the main campus and has its own outpatient department, inpatient wards, imaging area, endoscopy centre, consultation centre, operating suite and one-stop health-management centre. Outpatient care is fully appointment-based and can be booked up to a week ahead, with a single patient per consulting room. The centre provides bilingual medical services with Chinese-English handovers, ward rounds and consultations, and establishes standardised medical records for patients. Its accompanied-visit service pairs each patient with a physician, nurse, pharmacist, dietitian, psychotherapist, Chinese medicine practitioner, rehabilitation therapist, exercise coach and health manager.
