The hospital
Suzhou Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing University Medical School is a public general hospital that opened in May 2016, sitting on the shore of Lake Tai in the Suzhou High-tech Zone. It was jointly established by Nanjing University, the Suzhou Municipal Government and Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, and is a Grade 3B hospital. The site is planned for 1,200 beds and has 39 clinical and medical-technology departments, and it runs the National Stroke Centre along with municipal chest-pain, trauma, and maternal and critical-newborn referral centres. Specialists from Drum Tower Hospital in Nanjing consult and operate in Suzhou every week.
Dental care
Oral care is delivered by the Department of Stomatology, which is one of the larger and better-equipped dental departments among general hospitals in the Suzhou area. It has 16 dentists — two chief physicians, three associate chief physicians, eight attending physicians and three residents — two of them holding doctorates and twelve master's degrees. The outpatient clinic runs 29 dental chairs, a dedicated implant surgery room, a comfortable-treatment room and a small two-bed inpatient ward. Sub-specialties cover oral and maxillofacial surgery, implants, endodontics, periodontics, paediatric dentistry, prosthodontics and orthodontics.
Visiting as a foreign patient
The hospital does not publish an international or VIP medical department, and its website lists no English-language service, no English appointment channel and no commercial-insurance direct-billing list. Contact the switchboard in Chinese and expect to arrange your own interpretation.
