The hospital
Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University, also known as Hubei General Hospital, is one of the principal teaching hospitals of Wuhan University. It operates from three campuses: Shouyi, the main campus on Zhangzhidong Road in Wuchang, Hongshan, and the East Campus in the Donghu New Technology Development Zone.
Dental care
Its dental department covers oral medicine, including conservative dentistry and endodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, implant and prosthetic dentistry, orthodontics, and paediatric caries treatment. At the East Campus the department organises this work into six professional groups, so each of these areas has a dedicated team rather than being handled by a single general clinic.
Visiting as a foreign patient
The hospital's dedicated unit for foreign patients is the International Medical Department, which opened across all three campuses. It is intended for foreign nationals, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan compatriots, commercially insured patients and others seeking higher-end service, and it draws on senior physicians at associate chief physician level and above with foreign-language skills. The languages actually spoken at the desk are best confirmed at the time of booking.
Practical notes
Before travelling, telephone the 24-hour hotline, +86 27 8899 9120, to confirm current opening hours and how to book. Dental care is available at the main Shouyi campus in Wuchang and at the East Campus, so ask which site your appointment is at when you book. Wuhan's international airport and high-speed rail stations connect it to the rest of China and to major Asian hubs, and the Shouyi campus is close to the city centre.
