The hospital
Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital was founded in 1931 and is a large Grade 3A public general hospital directly under the provincial government, also carrying the name Third Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University. It has 2,929 beds on the main campus and a newer 500-bed campus at Xixian New Area, and is one of the province's main referral centres.
Dental care
Stomatology at this hospital dates back to the 1950s on the main campus, with the Xixian campus opening in January 2026. It is a provincial clinical key specialty and one of the first national standardised residency training bases in dentistry. The department has both an outpatient service and a six-bed inpatient ward, and its outpatient side is divided into six sub-specialties: oral and maxillofacial surgery, oral medicine, prosthodontics, orthodontics, implant dentistry and oral radiology. It also runs a temporomandibular joint clinic, a microscopic root canal clinic, and comfortable-care dentistry under nitrous oxide sedation or general anaesthesia. On the main campus the dental department is on the fourth floor of the outpatient building.
Visiting as a foreign patient
Care for foreign and VIP patients is provided through the Special Needs Outpatient Clinic and Geriatric Ward No. 1, which holds a special-needs inpatient area. The hospital is actively building English-language capability — in September 2026 it launched a Medical English Communication Handbook for its clinicians — but it does not publish an English-language booking channel or interpreter service, so call ahead to confirm what is available.
