The hospital

Southern Medical University Shenzhen Hospital opened in December 2015 and was rated Grade 3A in 2022. It is a municipal public general hospital in Bao'an District and became a Guangdong provincial international medical service pilot hospital. It reports more than 900 research projects, including 105 funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, a young hospital with a heavy research programme behind it.

Dental care

The hospital runs a Department of Dentistry covering caries, pulpitis, periapical disease, periodontal disease, restoration of missing or damaged teeth, anterior aesthetic dentistry, malocclusion, paediatric dentistry, oral health care and an infant oral health clinic. The dental team includes senior physicians in orthodontics, prosthodontics and endodontics, with microscopic root-canal treatment available. A separate Department of Maxillofacial Surgery also operates at the hospital, so surgical cases are handled by their own team.

Visiting as a foreign patient

The International Medical Department combines a renowned-doctor outpatient clinic, a VIP health check centre and an inpatient unit, with 45 named specialists available and 32 inpatient beds in four ward categories. It is aimed at visitors from home and abroad with special needs. It carries no details on language support or direct billing, and no insurer names appear on the hospital's insurance pages, so telephone the hospital to confirm how you will book, pay and communicate before travelling. Bring your passport.
