The hospital
Xi'an Jiaotong University Stomatological Hospital traces its origins to a dental clinic founded in 1950 and was formally established as a hospital in 1985; the 2000 merger of Xi'an Jiaotong University and Xi'an Medical University gave it its current name. It is the only large Grade 3A dental specialty hospital in northwest China directly affiliated with and administered by the National Health Commission, which makes it the flagship oral-health institution for the region.
Dental care
For international patients the key department is the Special and VIP Dental Clinic, a multidisciplinary clinic on the 4th floor of the hospital's Dental Preservation and Functional Reconstruction Centre. It works on a one-stop model: a green channel, accompanied visits for patients with special needs, and home visits, with in-house referral and consultation between specialties. Specialists from across the hospital come together under one roof, covering endodontics, prosthodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, periodontics, implantology, orthodontics and aesthetic dentistry, in private, self-contained treatment rooms.
Visiting as a foreign patient
Appointments are made through a WeChat mini-programme, the WeChat official account or on site, and an English-language reception desk, English appointment channel or English medical-record process is not advertised, so telephone the clinic before travelling to confirm arrangements. The hospital runs an active international academic programme, with visiting delegations from King's College London and the University of Alberta and an outbound delegation to the UK, Spain and Portugal in 2026, so staff with overseas experience are present.
Practical notes
The VIP clinic is charged above standard outpatient rates. You can call the clinic directly on +86 29 8727 0363 for a quotation and an appointment.
